The way we draw the world changes the way we see it. Equal Earth gives countries and continents their proper relative areas.
Our Mission
Created in 2018 by Bojan Savric, Tom Patterson and Bernhard Jenny, Equal Earth is an equal-area world map projection. It preserves the relative surface areas of countries and continents. It does not preserve every shape, distance or direction: no flat map can do all of those things. Our maps are for reference, learning and display, rather than navigation.
Our Mission
On 4 September 2026, the UN General Assembly voted 164 to 1, with six abstentions, to encourage more proportional world mapping. That is an invitation to reconsider the maps we use, not a compulsory purchasing standard. Correct the Map helps schools, homes and businesses bring that perspective onto their walls.
